Our Fell Farming Heritage

  • The Old Courthouse Main Street Penrith, England, CA10 3NL United Kingdom (map)

The Old Courthouse, Shap will be focusing on Hill Farming with an exhibition called " Our Fell Farming Heritage " and the Fell Pony Heritage Trust is opening the event with a Coffee Morning on Saturday 18th October, 10am to 12 noon.

The FPHT will have lots of information available about the work we do supporting Keeping the Fell Pony Herds on the fell and the Hill breeding on the fells by the Hill Farmers who still run mares on the uplands.

Janet Wood ( Ralfland Fell Ponies ) one of the exhibition organisers says,

" The local farming landscape is fast changing and so many face the challenges this brings, we would like to acknowledge the contribution that farming families have made to our landscape, particularly those for who keeping livestock on the common was an integral part of their farming way of life and viability of their farm. "

Come and support the Heritage of the local ponies and hill breeders.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.
