School visits & Students

Our last school visit with Marnie the Fell Pony was on Monday 4th March to Kirby Stephen Primary, it was in lovely bright sunshine so more then just Class 3 who were doing the project wished to see the pony in the play ground.

Over 2 hours of this sunny Monday morning Marnie was seen and talked about by every class in the school. !

The FPHT is passionate about the Cumbrian Fell Pony and Marnie has been the star for 11 local school visits over the last 7 weeks and has been enjoyed by hundreds of children. The art work has been wonderful, the teachers highlighting the positive impact a real pony had at the school, the engagement of all the children has been inspiring.

There will be an exhibition about the EPONA Project at the Rheged Centre in April with the children's work.

These educational projects provide informative and engaging experiences for the children to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the hill herds of Fell Ponies and their important heritage.

Yesterday the FPHT had a stand at the Kendal College Careers Fair at the Westmorland Campus. Students are looking for work experiences, practical Apprenticeships or University courses.

The FPHT has contact information now for 2 students on the Animal Care Course who would like work experience with outdoor foaling and 3 Apprentices who would like to learn more about Fell Pony herds as part of hill farming. This interactive service allows students to find options in the local area. Please contact us for more info.
