Our first Fell Pony Heritage Trust Camping Weekend took place from 25.-27 June. We had a lovely group interested in being part of promoting the hill bred Fell Pony. Everyone experienced first hand what these ponies are like, how they spend their days and how foals grow up together and interact.
Both our group of mares and foals along with the stallion running in-bye and youngsters living out on the fell enjoyed giving people a glimpse of their herd structure, communication and curiosity meeting new people.
We had a social evening with pizza and music at the campsite on Saturday evening where the group could get closer and was joined by other Fell Pony breeders, supporters and trustees of the Fell Pony Heritage Trust.
Our wonderful Rocco (Murthwaite Tonka Toy) came to say hello on Sunday morning and presented his skills in carriage driving to show the breed's versatility as a working pony.
We got lots of positive feedback and would love to organise more camping weekends and other educational events with opportunities to meet the ponies in their natural habitat in the future.
