About the event

Friday June 25th 2021 at 6:00pm the start of the weekend at Low Borrowdale for walks and talks about these "almost" living wild herds of Fell Ponies. Over the next two days you will experience a fascinating insight into the lives of these ponies in their natural landscape.

The weekend will be about the breeding of Fell ponies in semi-feral herds which plays such an important part in producing the strong traditional pony with the conformation and "brains" to survive and grown up as a useful ride and drive/working pony for the future. The introduction of agri-environmental schemes on the fell common's, is a threat to the hill bred herds as these schemes are asking for the reduction in grazing livestock on the upland fells, this will be impacting breeding numbers from semi- wild herds.

In seeing for yourself the importance of how other species live in harmony with the ponies will greatly raise your understanding of these proud and beautiful animals.

The weekend is for two nights, max of 10 persons and finishes on the Sunday 27th  at 3:00pm.

Please contact us for further information and to book a place. Thank you.
